Back to London, back to reality.

So I have now been back in London over a week and it is fair to say rather a lot has happened. Last week seemed to be a week in which we celebrated being back in London by not actually doing much about London and instead mostly bopped around a club to probably the least cool music East London has ever seen (forgetting Chas and Dave), naturally, therefore I loved it. Whilst waiting for the Tube on our way to said club we started talking to a man who said that he had got out of Belmarsh Prison that same day for a multi- million pound fraud and that he was now a billionaire. I found it hard to believe as he was holding a blue plastic bag and rather crumpled looking. He seemed nice though and he offered me a cigar. I politely refused and said that I would let him celebrate his release with the one he wanted to give to me.

This week I have discovered that I am good at writing on mirrors in toothpaste, that Brazil is a beautiful country and that cheese and wine nights aren't as innocent as they seem. Especially when I get a half price magnum of sparkling wine from Gateway 'supermarket' across the road. All in all I feel like this past  week has been the best week since moving to London. It was like another freshers week but with the knowledge that you can grind on down to ridiculously urban music you have never heard before in an East London club, in front of your friends and that instead of never wanting to see you again they will probably join you. For that I salute my new-found urban family. Tomorrow it is meant to snow (the Met Office have advised against anything but essential travel so the 1 minute walk to my lecture may not happen) and as I maintain that there is no more beautiful sight that a London boozer, fire blazing and punters laughing I will probably spend most of my evening in the Royal Albert, said 'Royal' provided by yours truly, obviously.

On the subject of royalty, one that I rarely ever mention, I would like to celebrate the
pure boldness of the Royal Family's press office. Today Princess Beatrice and Eugenie drove a Union Jack mini right through the centre of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Press office I applaud you for providing me with a laugh at your unbridled patriotism and disregard for political relations.
Anyway bed awaits and a pile of books as high as a premium race horse. Better get started  now. As they say, "Every Little Helps".

Updates are fun! Last week was a very big one for me and I have lots of lovely news. Firstly, I got into my first choice university, Goldsmiths in London about which I am very excited. Secondly, I finally turned 18! I celebrated with a Royal themed party (how else?) In my garden and I wanted to share some of the photos taken by one of Mum's friends who is good with a camera and what not.

School's Out....FOREVER

Today I came to a shuddering realisation. Two weeks today is my final day of school EVER. Yes that has been capitalised. In fact it feels like the majority of things I write these days end up being capitalised, I am very slowly turning into the Daily Mail Online, but that is a discussion for another day. After 14 long years of wishing to leave I am finally at the point of no return. I am going to London in 5 months to start University and that is seriously SCARY. (There we go, Mail online again). In two weeks I will probably be a little worse for wear after a day spent traipsing around the pubs of Sleaford and rather messy after causing all sorts of mayhem during the day. I have realised, however, that this could be the last time that I will ever see some of my friends who I have had since turning up on the first day at Carre's 7 years ago. I will stay in contact with some but others I will, unfortunately, lose touch with. I don't want to dwell on this however. This summer is one of new beginnings. Tonight I applied for my accommodation next year, student finance is very nearly finished and the summer is shaping up to be one to remember. I am going to T4 On The Beach, Disneyland, Paris, Ireland. In two weeks I will be in London for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (not that I have gone on about it) and in a few months will be cheering on Team GB at the London Olympics. I really want to try and enjoy my last two weeks at school and look forward to moving to a place I love and making hundreds of new friends. Two people also moving on are my two good friends Lucy and Hannah. Lucy is moving to London, like me and Hannah is being a little more adventurous and moving to Toulouse! They have both set up blogs to share their journey into the wide world. Lucy's is http://lucysadventuresinlondonland.blogspot.co.uk/ and Hannah's blog is http://talesfromtoulouse.blogspot.co.uk/. Anyway it is time for me to go and Wednesday night is usually a night spent dancing around to Bananarama and drinking milk but before I do, here is a picture of me, a Beefeater and a raven taken earlier today. (Thanks Keirl).

A Royal Address, From Prince Rorie.

If you read this blog (and I live in hope that there is at least one person out there does, even if it is in pity) then I am very sorry. This post is essentially an advance apology. As of today it is only 39 days until the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. 39 days that are going to be full of everything you would ever want to know about the royals and bits that you probably didn't. Yesterday I kicked off my Jubilee countdown on my hospital radio show with my friend Lucy. It was 2 hours of Royal fun where I got to gush about Wills and Kate to an essentially, and I hesitate to write this 'captive audience'. And you, dear reader, are the latest victims of my gushing. I cannot get enough of the Royals. I found myself, yesterday heading to Tesco to buy my first ever copy of 'Hello' magazine as it was a 'William And Kate: One Year On' special edition. I think 'obsessed' would be playing down the feeling in my house. I also cannot lie to you, the £2 I spent on that magazine was the greatest £2 I have ever spent. I have probably spent more time pondering over how Kate manages to still look hot in a ski-suit and if William's bald patch got any bigger we could harness enough solar power to solve global warming than I should have. Especially when A-Levels are looming. But I don't care. The phrase 'Once in a lifetime' gets banded around a lot, especially with the Olympics coming to London this year but in this case it is true. Most of us will probably never see another Diamond Jubilee. So amongst this next 39 days of tacky mugs, magazines, union jacks, crowns, tiaras and Queens bear in mind (if you are getting sick of it) that Queen Elizabeth II is only the second ever British Monarch to reach an incredible 60 years on the throne and if that isn't enough to guide you through the maze of red, white and blue, it is only 41 days until it is all over....

Gypsy Weddings is so Spring/Summer 2012

I remember, just over a year ago, sitting down to watch a one off 'Cutting Edge' documentary called 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'. Since then Gypsy is in. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another Royal Wedding in the next few years that the bride's dress will be designed by Thelma. Gypsy Weddings allows us in to a world that otherwise we wouldn't see and I for one could not carry on without my weekly dose of glitz, tack and palm tree dresses. This week's episode concentrated on the children of the gypsy community and whilst none of this week's children had anything on Nangirl from episode one it was still brilliant. A barbie dress was designed by Thelma for a rather demanding prom girl who subsequently very nearly missed out on the ball as her Cinderella-style dress couldn't fit in the coach transport to the prom venue. But have no fear. Off she piled, dress and all in to the nearest stretch humma and a good night was had by all. Personally my quote of the episode came from a 12 year old boy who was driving his Dad's 4x4. 'I can drive, all I need to do now is learn to read' I look forward to the next episode.
